Just in: NOAA forecasters predict a below-normal for 2026 -- early preparation remains critical.

Some great news for Endangered Species Day: Protections *can* and *do* pay off!
"Each fall through spring, North Atlantic right whales give birth in the shallow, coastal waters of the Southeast. This year, 23 calves were born—the highest number since 2009!"

Severe thunderstorms capable of producing tornadoes (possibly EF2+), large-to-very large hail, and damaging wind gusts are possible across the Southeast today. Strong storms are already underway this morning, with the main severe threat expected from afternoon into at least the early evening.
