Action Research Course
(2nd Cohort)
OCTOBER 2020
DONT MISS...DONT FORGET TO EMAIL US...

It is our immense pleasure to inform you that Global Center for Innovation & Learning (GCFIL), USA is going to start Action Research Online Course (2nd Cohort) in October 2020. This course is planned to be completed within 8-10 weeks. Every Saturday a 2-hour online class will be offered. Class could be accessed remotely from any computer or smart phone with WiFi access.Registered Participants will be sent online links for online class through their email address. Registration will start from August 1, 2020 and will end on September 31, 2020.

About Action Research:
Action Research is known by many names, including participatory research, collaborative inquiry, emancipatory research, action learning, and contextual action research, but put simply, Action Research is “learning by doing”—a group of people identifying a problem, and doing something to resolve it, evaluating their efforts, and if not satisfied, trying again. Action Research is examining one’s own practices through collaborative inquiry, reflection, and dialogue.

If you think of research as a process of steps used to collect and analyze information in order to increase our understanding of a topic or issue, then you would think of Action (change) + Research (investigation) as investigating a problem or situation in order to make change happen. When something goes wrong with your lessons, what do you do? If you think about what you are doing and make a change, you are doing Action Research!

Course Details:
This online course has been written for researchers and to be researchers understand what Action Research is, why we should conduct Action Research, who conducts Action Research, and the process of Action Research.
It is hoped that this will develop knowledge and skills so that administrators, mentors, and teachers can conduct Action Research projects that result in positive changes in their own work space. Specific goals of this course are to help participants do the following:

■ Define and explain Action Research.
■ Demonstrate an understanding of how to use the recursive nature of Action Research to improve their work practice.
■ Provide examples of the Action Research process in action.
■ Identify action-researchable issues in their own work space.
■ Plan and implement Action Research projects in their own work space.
■ Assess and share the results of their own Action Research with colleagues.
■ Learn to improve instructional decision-making through a continuous reflection point of view.

A readathon, for those of you that might be confused, is an event, usually with a time limit, where you set a certain goal you would like to reach. The goal of readathons is to help you read more during that time period than you would any other time. Some examples of goals: 4 books, 1500 pages, half of my TBR pile.

Global Book Bank - Sustainable Library Systems: Two Approaches in Context

A Copyrighted and Trademarked Concept from the @Global Center for Innovation & Learning (GCFIL)

To create a culture of reading and improvement of life skills, reading should be a way of life. In many developing countries there is a huge need for books and libraries but governments have failed to establish library systems. Some INGOs and CBOs have tried different models for providing access to learning materials, especially for young learners, but little has been done to address reading needs of young adults and adults. As a result, the culture of learning is diminishing exponentially, building only superficial interest in learning, which results in low motivation to excel and an eventual low-skills, low motivation workforce.

The Global Center for Innovation and Learning (GCFIL) proposes to develop a dual-approach library system, in two distinct country contexts, beginning in 2019. First, GCFIL proposes to develop a private library system in Bangladesh, where learners are seeking a wider variety of reading resources and references to support learning, beginning in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Second, GCFIL proposes to develop a p***c self-sustaining library system in Tanzania, in rural areas where reading materials are non-existent.
