I recently enjoyed visiting Hanover Foods’ processing plant in Clayton with company leadership and Delaware Department of Agriculture Secretary Don Clifton. A family-owned company for over 100 years, Hanover is a valuable local employer that buys peas, lima beans, corn, and chicken while supporting Delaware farmers. Our agriculture and manufacturing communities are vital to our state’s economy and culture, and I’m proud to fight for their interests Washington.

I don’t trust Trump’s word, and neither do the American people.

I had the chance to meet with Amtrak’s union leaders last week, and visit one of their two Delaware-based maintenance shops this morning. We are so proud to have such an important piece of what keeps America moving here in the First State.

Anyone can love and believe in their nation, their country, the ground that they’re from, their ethnicity, their faith, but patriotism is a dedication to the ideals of our nation. All of us who’ve been elected and all who serve in our military take an oath not to any particular president, not to any particular tradition, but to our Constitution, because it is that Constitution that holds the ideals that are the bedrock of our nation, and that are the guidepost and the lantern that should call us forward as we serve and as we defend our freedom. As we reflected on and remembered those who have kept us free during this annual Memorial Day service, we gave our most sincere thanks to those who gave all.

From groundbreakings for federally funded affordable housing to provide opportunity for Delaware families, to connecting with leaders and business owners among the immigrant community in Georgetown, it was great to spend a day downstate ensuring that Kent and Sussex counties have the tools coming from Washington that they need to thrive.

The Protect College Sports Act helps student-athletes, enshrining NIL rights in law, protecting them from predatory agents, and requiring health care coverage, whether you’re playing DI football or DIII fencing.

As comes to a close, I’m reflecting on the friends and family I’ve seen devastated by this cruel disease, and on the courage of those living with ALS.

As co-chair of the bipartisan Senate ALS Caucus, I’m proud to join Senators Lisa Murkowski, Senator Tom Cotton, and Senator Sheldon Whitehouse in introducing a resolution to raise awareness, support ALS research, and keep pushing for better treatments and, one day, a cure.

As a member of the Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship, I know how consumer and business credit help communities thrive. Thank you to and the SCORE Program, which have helped to launch 17 million businesses since its inception. Delaware’s small businesses and I appreciate the work you do to assist them!

I'm proud to join the Protect College Sports Act because it contains meaningful improvements to address the chaos of modern college sports: protections for student-athletes, protections for Olympic sports, and a stable, sustainable future.
