Through Safe Babies, communities are supporting families earlier, helping prevent unnecessary separation and strengthening outcomes for babies.

That’s not just growth.

- It’s babies reaching stable permanent homes.
- It’s babies spending less time in foster care.
- Families getting the support they need.
- Stronger systems for the earliest years.

They're speaking up for strong families.

These babies and their families are sharing what it takes to raise a child today.

They’re speaking to Congress about the real challenges families face and the stress they and their babies face daily.

When supports are strong, babies thrive. When they’re not, families are forced into impossible choices.

For babies and toddlers, separation from a caregiver can be deeply traumatic.

They may not understand what’s happening. But they feel it. Changes in routine. Stress in the home. Tension in their community. For some families, fear is now shaping daily decisions, even skipping pediatric visits or essential care.

And because young children can’t always express what they feel, it can show up in ways that are easy to miss.

“Babies remember.”

This year at our LEARN Conference 2026, Child-Parent Psychotherapy is not just a conversation; it's a full learning pathway woven throughout the conference, with opportunities to explore clinical practice, research, and real-world application across settings.

And it begins with a powerful Pre-Conference Forum led by Chandra Ghosh Ippen, PhD and Katie Stone, PhD.

Through eight clinical sessions, participants will explore how Child-Parent Psychotherapy uses play, relationship and reflection to help children and caregivers heal from trauma together.

This immersive learning experience will examine:
- symbolic play
- clinical microinterventions
- CPP fidelity and intervention
- ghosts in the nursery work
- the evolution of therapeutic play across sessions

Expect deep clinical reflection, rich dialogue and a rare opportunity to observe treatment unfold. Join us in Portland: https://bit.ly/42SIyDA

Families with babies are carrying an overwhelming amount of stress right now. A new national snapshot found that:

- Nearly half of parents (44%) reported some level of difficulty paying for the basics in 2025, the highest rate in the past five years. Families with low incomes, families of color and rural communities faced the greatest challenges.

- About 1 in 5 parents screened positive for elevated anxiety and/or depressive symptoms in 2025, a three-year high that rose even higher across the year.

- Over half of parents (55%) reported being concerned about their child’s learning, development or behavior and about a quarter reported being very concerned, a rate that is double any previous year since 2020.

- While 46% of parents reported they felt hopeful about the future most of the time at the start of 2025, this rate dropped to 33% in the second half of the year.

And through it all, families continued showing up for their babies with love, connection and resilience. The first three years matter deeply. Families need policies that support affordable health care, food security, stable housing, mental health support, paid leave and access to quality child care.

Congress is expected to vote in the coming days on legislation that would provide funding for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP) through the reconciliation process. The proposal does not include the safeguards needed to protect babies and their families.

Without these protections, many families may avoid seeking health care, child care and other essential services out of fear. That can disrupt healthy development during the earliest years of life, when children need stable relationships, care and support the most.

Contact your members of Congress and urge them to vote NO on funding for immigration enforcement activities that put children and families at risk, and to support policies that keep babies safe and families together: https://bit.ly/3RuicFy

As the administration working to refund $166 billion in tariff revenue, we ask: what could we do with resources at this scale?

More than 70% of parents with infants and toddlers report rising costs for basics like food, utilities and transportation, while wages continue to lag behind inflation. Investing new revenue in American families could lower household costs and strengthen long-term economic security for millions.

So what could $166 billion pay for? Read more in The Hill: https://bit.ly/42WMt2i

Nearly one-third of parents report lacking support from family, friends or partners.

That kind of isolation isn’t just painful, it’s harmful.

A caregiver’s mental health directly affects a baby’s development. Stress, depression, and burnout can make it harder to bond, respond, and connect. Babies feel that deeply.

Babies don’t just need love. They need supported love. That means showing up for caregivers with policies, programs and community care that make parenting possible.

Believe In Babies. Support families. Learn how: https://bit.ly/40ETQdq
