Today, Israeli forces detained dozens of volunteers, including a congressional candidate and rabbis, in the West Bank. Days earlier, settlers attacked European diplomats and a Washington Post journalist.

If American public servants, diplomats, and journalists are targeted, imagine what Palestinian families face every day.

Congress should take up my bill, the Stop the Settlements Act, to impose sanctions on anyone driving settlements in the West Bank or Gaza, including construction companies and banks. It's backed by 59 members of Congress, including the bill's latest co-sponsors, Rep. Jamie Raskin, Rep. Robert Garcia, Rep. Jason Crow, Rep. Deborah Ross, Rep. Jasmine Crockett, and Rep. Sharice Davids

Mr. Lander, a Democratic congressional nominee from New York, had been helping Palestinian farmers. He said he was released after about three hours, but that other volunteers were still in custody.

Air Force Tech. Sergeant Ian Patterson tragically died after a skills demonstration incident at the Alamodome. He gave 15 years to our country and trained the next generation of airmen at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland.

As the investigation into his death begins, his family deserves clear answers, and I urge the Air Force to be fully transparent about what happened. My heart is with his family, his loved ones, and his fellow airmen.

Today’s violent attack is an example of why Congress should take up my bill, the Stop the Settlements Act, which would impose sanctions on anyone looking to take Palestinian land.

Dozens of Israeli settlers attacked Palestinian villagers during an olive harvest in the West Bank. Washington Post journalist Heidi Levine was brutally attacked.

This must be a wakeup call. Attacks like this one pave the way for the violent land grabs taking place throughout the West Bank and push us further away from peace.

The Stop the Settlements Act would sanction anyone looking to take Palestinian land in the West Bank or Gaza. And support keeps growing.

Since I introduced the bill alongside Reps. Dean, Beyer, Casar, Jacobs, and Escobar, over 50 members have now co-sponsored.

Settlement expansion pushes Palestinians off their land and makes peace harder to achieve. It’s time to use tools like sanctions to stop it.

I’m glad to see the City of San Antonio taking ICE to court. ICE wants to hold up to 1,500 people a day in an East Side warehouse next to a floodplain, and it still hasn’t told the city how it will handle water, sewage, or emergencies.

We’ve seen what happens inside these facilities. Overcrowding, spoiled food, people denied medical care. It has no place in our community.
