We are an established local political party that is just beginning to make ourselves known in the Athens-Clarke county area. Are you in?

Our party's political ideology is as diverse as the people we serve around the world. The foundation of our message are what we call the four pillars:

1) Peace: Our country's long wars and worldwide military presence are immoral and unsustainable. Our military budget must be cut dramatically.

2) Ecology: The human cost of climate change is too high. We need to get off fossil fuels and onto renew

Meet Howie Hawkins
The original Green New Dealer & a Green candidate for president in 2020

In 2009 & 2010 Howie Hawkins was the first candidate of any U.S. Party to campaign on the Green New Deal.

Greener than Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's resolution, the original Howie Hawkins Green New Deal (GND) includes but is not limited to:

* A right to a job or basic income;
* Medicare For All NOW, and eventually a National Health Service;
* A right to quality housing for all in walkable neighborhoods;
* A right to the city and an end to gentrification;
* Regional transportation networks to serve all neighborhoods, not just the privileged & a national high speed rail network;
* Universal childcare, universal pre - K;
* Full funding of public schools, including arts, music, humanities, & the reduction of class sizes to no more than 15 students;
* Democratic community, parent and teacher control of public schools, an ending the privatization of public education.
* Development of zero waste manufacturing and agricultural processes and green building technologies;
* Gradual shutdown of the fossil fuel industrial complex with a just transition for workers in those sectors;
* Development of electric cars and rebuilding infrastructure; Sharing green technologies with poorer countries;
* Zero emissions by 2030.

Next Athens Green Party Meeting is Sat. April 7th – 9:30am to 11:30am – at the Athens-Clarke County Library, Multipurpose Room B 2025 Baxter St, Athens, GA 30606

Our Meeting Agenda includes building petition drive teams, using our Green platform planks to energize campaigns, and your agenda items.

After the meeting we'll head downtown to the International Street Festival to petition – read details below!

Hi everyone, My name is John Fortuin, I'm running for Senate District 46, to oust incumbent majority leader, Republican Bill Cowsert. I need 5,225 signatures to get on the ballot before June 6th, and I need your help getting signatures from my district, which includes Athens-Clarke, Oconee, & Walton Counties. Challenging the Establishment!

The Green Party has candidates running for State Offices and for Congress! Come meet a Green candidate, kickoff the campaign and sign a petition to get our candidates on the ballot! We are organizing in and around Athens this spring! Hear about our challenge to the establishment leaders who are failing Georgians and Athenians!
