Iowans deserve timely and efficient mail service and it’s unacceptable that residents of Urbandale have been forced to deal with delayed and misdirected mail for years because they haven’t been given their own ZIP code.

Local grocers like Latimer's make a difference in rural Iowa by keeping the shelves stocked in small communities and delivering for their neighbors year after year.

I was honored to present them with my Small Business of the Week award this National Small Business Week.

I was proud to recognize Sister’s Home Style Entrees with my Small Business of the Week award.

Serving nearly 90,000 meals a month, this operation is a powerful example of how a heartfelt idea, guided by strong leadership, can grow into an essential service.

In celebration of National Small Business Week, I visited Heart ‘n Home to see firsthand how Julie’s passion for crafting and eye for design helped this business bloom from its humble beginnings as a garage-based floral shop.

One arrangement at a time, Heart ‘n Home brings warmth and creativity to folks in Pocahontas. It was an honor to present my Small Business of the Week award to this incredible business.
