From the French Embassy in the U.S. to you, Happy New Year! The year 2012 marks a leadership change in the European Union, in which Denmark takes over from Poland on leadership of the Council of the European Union. We pay tribute to the work done by Poland during her first presidency and to its success. The environmental, migratory and social challenges will be priorities for Denmark, but also for France, during this presidency. We wish the Danish European Union presidency every success.

World-renowned cyclist Lance Armstrong met French President Nicolas Sarkozy on March 22 in Paris. President Sarkozy, who is an avid cyclist and often known to cycle throughout the south of France, received a thoughtful gift from the 7-time champion of the Tour de France: a brand new bike featuring the symbolic bleu-blanc-rouge of the French flag.
