Today, my staff had the privilege of attending a moving dedication ceremony at Riverfront Park, sponsored by the Daughters of the American Revolution Jonas Babcock Chapter. The afternoon celebrated America’s 250th anniversary and the living legacy of our service members. An offshoot of the DAR's Cherry Tree Project that supports Washington DC's iconic cherry blossom season, local DAR members and a Home Depot volunteer team worked together to plant 25 cherry trees and build a Never Forget Garden on the grounds near the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. Remarks from DAR President General Ginnie Sebastian Storage and Regent Rae Anna Victor reminded us of the profound sacrifices made by military families. It was a beautiful day of community, gratitude, and remembrance that will impact Spokane for generations.
