The Embassy of Jamaica in Washington, D.C. regrets to announce the passing of Mr. Leslie Roy Campbell, former Minister of State for Diaspora Affairs (2020–2022) and former Member of Parliament.

In his honour, the Embassy will open a Book of Condolences at 1520 New Hampshire Avenue NW, Washington, D.C. 20036, during the period:

Wednesday–Friday, June 3–5, 2026
10:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. | 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Members of the diaspora are warmly invited to visit and offer their condolences to his family.

May he rest in peace, and may his legacy continue to inspire.

Did you know that a Jamaican, Princess May Lawes, made history as the first Caribbean woman, the first woman of African descent, and the youngest person ever to serve as President of the Inter-American Commission of Women (1984–1986)?

In recognition of her extraordinary legacy, a portrait of Princess Lawes was unveiled in the Hall of Heroes and Heroines at the Organization of American States (OAS) headquarters in Washington, D.C.

Jamaica’s outgoing Ambassador to the United States and Permanent Representative to the OAS, H.E. Major General (Ret’d) Antony Anderson, participated in the unveiling ceremony and delivered remarks honoring the remarkable Jamaican and her story.

Jamaica’s Ambassador to the United States, His Excellency Major General (Ret’d) Antony Anderson, has been appointed Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Reconstruction and Resilience Authority (NaRRA), effective June 1.

NaRRA is Jamaica's specialized statutory body designed to accelerate post-disaster rebuilding and critical infrastructure resilience, specifically established following the devastation of Hurricane Melissa.

His Excellency Major General (Ret’d) Antony Anderson,
Ambassador of Jamaica to the United States of America, met with the 2026 Jamaican cohort of the Young Leaders of the Americas Initiative (YLAI) Fellowship Program.

Ambassador Anderson commended the group of innovators, while challenging them to think bigger and to be bolder with their ambitions.

The Fellowship Program, led by the , focuses on empowering emerging leaders who are driving entrepreneurship, innovation, and economic growth throughout the Americas and the Jamaican group was selected from more than 1,200 applicants across the hemisphere!

His Excellency Major General (Ret’d) Antony Anderson, Jamaica’s Ambassador to the United States, recently joined members of the Mico University College Alumni Association, New York Chapter, for their 51st Anniversary Gala held in Brooklyn, New York.

In his address, Ambassador Anderson hailed The Mico University College as a cornerstone of Jamaica’s educational development and praised the association for more than five decades of scholarship, mentorship, philanthropy, and nation-building.

Highlighting the global impact of Mico graduates, the Ambassador noted that wherever Jamaicans go, they continue to strengthen communities through leadership, service, and excellence.

Salute to all our educators who pour into the next generation of Jamaicans and future leaders. ✨
