Another youth curfew zone in Navy Yard this weekend.
8am–11pm zone restrictions before a citywide 11pm curfew.

We keep seeing the same response to young people gathering: policing instead of investment.
What would it look like to actually support youth instead of criminalizing them?

Money tells a story and this one raises questions.

According to FEC data, Brooke Pinto’s donors have poured over $2.3 million into Republican candidates, with some directly funding Trump’s campaigns. Meanwhile, she’s running as a Democrat to represent D.C.

So who is being served here? Because it’s hard to ignore the contradiction of taking money from networks that have consistently targeted this city and its people.

D.C. deserves transparency. D.C. deserves accountability. And D.C. deserves leadership that isn’t financed by those working against it.

Our loved ones are being arrested and detained, profiled, shot at and killed. Thousands are unemployed with no sign of relief, while our kids are looking for safe spaces.

WHAT DO WE DO NEXT?

Join us on a mass call to prepare for May Day, Wednesday April 15th at 8pm on Zoom, where we can talk about solutions as a community. Link to join: bit.ly/may-day-dc

Nearly 20,000 people have been detained in just over a year, in the DC area. READ THAT NUMBER AGAIN.

Even after a court challenged warrantless arrests, enforcement remains high in surrounding areas. The impact? Communities living in fear, avoiding public life (going to work, dropping their kids at school), and constantly questioning the occupation of our city.

ICE OUT NOW 🗣️

This is why DC needs the Full Accountability in Arrest Reporting (FAAR) Act. It’s why we must go even further and .

New bodyworn camera footage from MPD shows the incident where HSI agents fired shots at Phillip Brown, coming so close to hitting him that bullets grazed his jacket collar. A court found that Phillip Brown did nothing wrong. These federal agents and the agencies they work for have faced zero consequences for this near-deadly incident.

In a racist system where officers too often omit the truth or outright lie, video footage and required reporting remain critical tools for accountability. We continue to support the FAAR Act and call for the release of all bodyworn camera footage from incidents where federal agents have shot at or killed DC community members

Repost : The Metropolitan Police Department released three videos on YouTube regarding the shooting, which they call a “Serious Use of Force.”

It was a beautiful day to knock more than 500 doors for ! Over the last year DC has seen clearly what it looks like to have a mayor who is willing to do the work of this regime for them — and we have seen clearly why we need our next mayor to be on the people’s side. The Free DC community voted by a 95% majority to endorse Janeese for Mayor and we look forward to powering her to victory on June 16 and beyond! Sign up for an upcoming canvass (and organize your crew to join you) or donate today as we turn into the final weeks of the campaign at https://janeesefordc.com.

Pam Bondi is OUT—and let’s be clear about what that meant for DC residents while she was in power.

This wasn’t just politics. This was people’s everyday lives.

Under her leadership, we saw:
• Federal control creep into DC’s local policing
• National Guard troops in our neighborhoods
• Immigration protections rolled back, putting entire communities at risk
• Local leadership overridden.

Her firing isn’t just about her. It’s about what happens when federal power is used on DC instead of for DC.

Home Rule isn’t optional. And DC residents deserve full autonomy over their city.

May 1 is International Workers Day, a day to celebrate working people and the struggles and gains made by unions and the labor movement. Here in DC, May 1 is also recognized as DC Statehood Day, in recognition that DC will eventually secure our full rights and political power when we are admitted as the 5/1st state.

May Day this year will take place as workers and communities everywhere — and especially here in DC — are under attack. The Trump regime has fired tens of thousands of workers in our region and is busting federal unions. It is conducting immigration raids on workers traveling to work or even on the job. The regime has occupied DC since August, has now arrested more than 10,000 of our neighbors — and has shot at and murdered people here.

On Friday, May 1, DC will say ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. We invite everyone to join DC workers, unions, and community members for a day of action on May Day here in DC. Sign up, organize your crew, and start making your plans now to be out in the streets with us on Friday May 1. Get all the details at MayDayDC.org (link in bio).
