Walter Pierce Park Dog Park

Construction for the installation of a bathroom and commemorative signage for the former cemetery will begin on July 8. Fencing for the construction is going up today (July 3). The park should still be completely accessible throughout the project. You will have to access it via Calvert Street or the Adams Mill entrance closer to the Zoo. FYI the dog park is a mess right now. While still mostly secure the fence along the back is in questionable shape. Use at your own risk. It was reported to 311 this morning (and hopefully earlier too).

Puppies Stolen at Gunpoint, 2 Men Shot in DC Crime Spree: Police Multiple suspects are wanted Wednesday for stealing two puppies at gunpoint, shooting two men and another armed robbery that all happened within an hour of each other in Washington, D.C.

The city turned the water on in WPP yesterday and the fountain at the top half of the park is working, but not the one in the dog park. There is a meeting scheduled with DPR for next week where this and some other park-related issues will be addressed.

On or about December 20, 2021, Metro is starting construction on the historic Calvert Street Bus Terminal located at 1971 Calvert St NW, Washington DC 20009. Construction is expected to last through spring 2022. Upon completion, the terminal will feature a repaved bus loop, new information screens, new security cameras, new landscaping, and improved employee restrooms.

Pedestrian access to Walter Pierce will remain open.
The bus stop in the bus terminal (Calvert St Loop + Calvert St NW, Stop ID: 1001838) will temporarily close. Notification signs will be posted at the bus stop
The bus stop at the front of the terminal (Calvert St + Biltmore St, Stop ID: 1001832) will remain open during construction.
