On Saturday I was honored to speak at Pittie Palooza, supporting legislation that combats breed discrimination and promotes pet-friendly housing.
Our efforts include capping pet fees, ensuring shelter access for homeless families with pets, and protecting our community’s animals.
It’s about building a city where safety and compassion go hand-in-hand because everyone deserves a safe place e to call home, including our furry friends.
Friday, I went to a community walk with our Deanwood neighbors hosted by Pastor Orlando in Ward 7 to let residents know we see them, we stand with them, and support them. Difficult times show us the importance and power of what can happen when neighbors stick together!
Thank you to Pastor Orlando, , the Ward 7 ANC Commissioners, our community partners, district agencies, and pastors that joined and encouraged us to love and connect with our neighbors.

This is a win for tenants. For too long, some landlords have exploited the system and profited at the expense of our neighbors' right to safe, affordable housing. We will continue fighting to protect residents and ensure fair housing for all.
DC HOUSING WIN: Petra will pay $700,000 in penalties and overhaul its practices after we sued the company for exploiting housing voucher programs in DC.
We uncovered evidence that Petra padded its profits by illegally advertising and leasing rent-controlled units exclusively to voucher holders so it could charge much higher rents.
As a result, Petra excluded low-income tenants without vouchers, including senior citizens and people with disabilities on fixed incomes.
Now, we are dismantling Petra's illegal scheme to evade rent control laws, hike rents, and keep out tenants without vouchers.
Fair housing is a promise we enforce.
