As part of Security Force Assistance Command - SFAC week we highlight how Advisors continue to strengthen partnerships and readiness through realistic, multinational training in diverse environments.
Earlier this year, 5th SFAB Advisors trained alongside the British Army’s 3rd Battalion, Royal Regiment of Scotland, and the Royal Thai Army in Hawaii at JPMRC 25-01, sharpening combat skills that directly apply to operations across the Indo-Pacific.
From ambush drills and drone overwatch to escape and evasion in dense terrain, this was more than an exercise, and it was a rehearsal for real-world missions.

2-2ID - Lancer Brigade has become the first brigade in the U.S. Army to field the Mounted Assured Positioning, Navigation, and Timing System (MAPS) Generation II. This cutting-edge system integrates advanced sensors, M-Code GPS, and anti-jam tech to deliver reliable PNT data in contested environments where traditional GPS may fail. For warfighters, it means enhanced ability to maneuver, shoot, communicate, and dominate the battlefield with precision, even under electronic warfare threats.

Rolling into danger like it’s rush hour — the NBCRV sniffs out trouble before you even smell it ☣️🚛
The 23 BEB CBRN Platoon (Hazard) conducts Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear reconnaissance using 3 M1135 NBCRVs. Their job is to assess, protect against and mitigate the full spectrum of CBRN hazards by providing adjacent units with a clear picture of contaminants on the battlefield.
They enable mobility by alerting maneuver units to denied or degraded areas from contamination and further identify and sample that contamination to assess further risks to force.

As the U.S. Army transitions from a focus on Counter-Insurgency Operations to Large Scale Combat Operations, First Army Observer Coach/Trainers are tailoring their approach to meet this new need while maintaining close relationships with their Reserve Component partners.
Those partners include the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 34th Red Bull Infantry Division, which this summer worked alongside members of the 157th Brigade Combat Team to tackle an unprecedented challenge: Being an Army National Guard unit tasked to conduct a Combat Training Exercise (CTE), followed immediately by a mobilization exercise and deployment to theater, all from the same location. The Iowa Army National Guard unit will be supporting Inherent Resolve and its members worked with their 157th partners to ensure they are ready to accomplish this mission.
