Grateful to have given the welcoming remarks at the Elevate Care South Carolina Forum, alongside the CEO and director of Level Up Healthcare Academy, Dr. Colette Townsend-Chambers, and other healthcare providers from across the state. The Forum focused on the theme of “Improving Care in South Carolina” and recognized the importance of collaboration to strengthen our healthcare workforce.

Grateful for the men and women who serve in our U.S. Border Patrol. These brave individuals work in securing our nation’s borders and protect Americans every day.

It was wonderful to have met with representatives from Michelin to discuss the important role they play in the state and across the country, and issues relating to trade and defense. The company has multiple plants within the state, and South Carolina continues to be the highest exporter of tires in America.

Yesterday, I had the opportunity to speak at the Greater Cayce-West Columbia Chamber of Commerce Small Business Lunch, presented by Dominion Energy, to wrap up Small Business Month. I was joined by Chamber CEO, Tim James; Chamber Board Chair, JB Beckett; Mayor of West Columbia, Tem Miles; Mayor of Irmo, Bill Danielson; and other community leaders and members. The Chamber serves as a platform for business owners to advocate on behalf of the business community.

Grateful to have met with Jeff Kendall, U.S. President of Atkins Realis, to discuss the work they are doing with Savannah River Site in Aiken. This is a world-class engineering services and nuclear organization with a goal to deliver critical mission support across the United States, advancing nuclear cleanup, national security, clean-energy innovation, and federal infrastructure programs.

I appreciated the opportunity to have met with the South Carolina Society of Anesthesiologists (SCSA), including Executive Director, Dr. Margarita Pate, to discuss important legislative issues. SCSA advocates for physician-led, patient-centered, high-quality anesthesia care.

On Memorial Day let us honor the brave men and women of the military who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to the country.

On May 23, 1788, South Carolina became the eighth state of the union after ratifying the U. S. Constitution. Today is the 238th anniversary.

It was wonderful to have met with South Carolinians representing the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA) to discuss the important role that these professionals play in improving the financial security of American families. As the leading association for financial professionals in America, NAIFA empowers the community through advocacy and education.
