With the November 3rd midterm elections approaching, every eligible voter should make sure their registration information is accurate and up to date.

Recent Supreme Court action has allowed the Trump administration to use an expanded federal database to review voter registration records. Eligible voters should verify their information to avoid potential registration issues.

I encourage everyone to check their voter registration and contact their local County Circuit Clerk’s Office with any questions about their status or upcoming election deadlines. Make a plan to vote and make your voice heard.

President Trump likes to talk about breaking records, but 164 days of gas prices above $4 a gallon is not a record worth celebrating.

The American people are already struggling with rising costs, and paying more at the pump only adds to that burden.

Instead of boasting about numbers, this Administration should be focused on lowering costs and making life more affordable for hardworking Americans.

The One Big Beautiful Bill Act cuts Medicaid and SNAP while providing tax breaks for wealthy Americans and corporations.

These cuts will make it harder for families to access the health care and food assistance they rely on. We should lower costs and expand opportunities for hardworking families, not make it harder for them to get by.

Mississippi families deserve leaders who put their needs first.

Social Security is a benefit Americans earn through years of hard work. A $75 monthly cost-of-living adjustment will do little to help seniors keep up with rising costs for groceries, gas, and other basic expenses.

Trumpflation and rising costs tied to Trump’s war are putting more pressure on household budgets. Our leaders should be working together to make sure Social Security is fair and helps seniors maintain their financial security.

I have a 100% voting record towards legislation that properly promotes Social Security, and I will continue working to ensure Americans receive the benefits they have earned.

The 2027 cost-of-living adjustment is the largest since 2023. Here's how it will impact the typical benefit check starting early next year.

As a proud son of Mississippi, I believe we must remember the trailblazers who stood firm in the face of racial discrimination.

Minnie Cox’s story reminds us that equal treatment and dignity must never be negotiable. We have a responsibility to carry that legacy forward.

Minnie Cox, an African-American woman, had been serving as postmaster with utmost dedication and professionalism in Indianola, Mississippi, since 1891. But with Reconstruction fading, the white townspeople demanded she resign from the prestigious position.

Outraged, TR refuses to accept Ms. Cox’s resignation, and, on this date, January 3, in 1903, shuts down mail service until she is reinstated. But Ms. Cox feared for her life and moves on, founding the Delta Penny Savings Bank and the Mississippi Life insurance Company, both among the first African-American owned businesses of this nature in the state

I had the privilege of working on Mrs. Fannie Lou Hamer’s 1964 congressional campaign, and her courage and sacrifice helped shape my commitment to public service.

The fight for voting rights that she dedicated her life to remains just as important today, and we honor her legacy by continuing to protect every American’s right to vote.

The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) has announced Economic Injury Disaster Loans for eligible private nonprofit and faith-based organizations in Mississippi impacted by the January 23–27 severe winter storm.

Eligible organizations in Mississippi’s Second Congressional District include those in Bolivar, Carroll, Grenada, Holmes, Humphreys, Issaquena, Leflore, Sharkey, Sunflower, Warren, Washington, and Yazoo counties.

I was glad to join Gateway Community Development Corporation, HOPE Enterprise Corporation, and community leaders in Yazoo City for the ribbon-cutting of Roberts Estates.

The $3 million grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development has given families the opportunity to become homeowners and build a future in their community.

Last Saturday, I had the opportunity to speak at the Men’s Prayer Breakfast at Sharon Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church.

It was a good morning of fellowship and a reminder that iron sharpens iron.

We must keep encouraging our men and preparing the next generation to lead.
