State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh H.E. Ms. Shama Obaed Islam addressed a roundtable discussion at the Atlantic Council where she highlighted Bangladesh’s democratic transition, economic openness, and commitment to balanced and pragmatic foreign policy. Following the roundtable, State Minister held a bilateral meeting with the Executive Vice President of the Atlantic Council, Ms. Jenna Ben-Yehuda.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to addressing the Rohingya crisis through humanitarian assistance and safe and sustainable return of Rohingyas to Myanmar.

Bangladesh and the United States of America signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Strategic Cooperation in the Field of Energy on 14 May 2026 at the Department of Energy in Washington, DC.
