H.R. 1801, also known as the Assault Weapons Ban of 2022, is a bill that, if passed into law, would allow for the regulation of assault weapons in the United States. This law would serve as a significant step forwards in gun violence prevention work, as it would impose more uncompromising restrictions on the purchase and possession of semi-automatic guns such as the AR-15. Today, we will be holding a letter writing campaign in WGR 202 to call on Congress to pass the bill immediately. Please come join us as we enjoy Insomnia Cookies and participate in this very important work!

Repost
The Supreme Court’s decision in NYSRPA v. Bruen is dangerous and deadly.
At a time when Americans are reeling from recent and persistent gun violence, the Supreme Court just elevated the Second Amendment over every other constitutional freedom. By ruling in favor of the gun lobby, the court reversed New York's ban on carrying concealed weapons, and stripped other states of the ability to enact policies that are proven to protect their citizens’ lives. This is not about responsible gun ownership, it's about universal gun ownership.
Angry? Pi**ed off? Disappointed? Channel what you’re feeling into action.

THE PEOPLE ARE SUPREME 🗣
Today, the Supreme Court ruled in favor of the gun lobby in an extreme expansion of the second amendment.
This decision will lead to the unnecessary suffering and death of more Americans.
Join an urgent mass call at 7pm ET TONIGHT to mobilize with March For Our Lives organizers and community members across the country.

4 years ago, we rose up together. 1 million of us demanded change. We built a movement.
We voted for new leaders. But our elected leaders grew comfortable, and gun deaths increased.
With the power of a movement comes the responsibility to use it. It's time to rise up once more and take to the streets. Now is the moment we march again, and we’re counting on you to show up on June 11th, 2022 in Washington, DC and cities across the country.
This is the breaking point. Enough is enough.
