America’s conservation story didn’t begin in Washington — it began with hunters, anglers, and outdoorsmen recognizing the need to protect wildlife and wild places long before the rest of the country caught on.
In the inaugural episode of the Hunt Fish 250 series, CSF sits down with Simon Roosevelt and James Cummins for a fascinating conversation on the origins of the North American Model of Wildlife Conservation, the public trust doctrine, and the sporting traditions that helped shape America itself.
If you care about hunting, fishing, public lands, conservation, and the future of America’s outdoor heritage, this is an episode you won’t want to miss.
🎧 Listen now and join us in celebrating 250 years of the freedom to hunt and fish.

America’s outdoor traditions scored a major win. 🇺🇸
Today, the Department of the Interior announced the largest proposed expansion of hunting and sport fishing opportunities in U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service history - including expanded access across more than 92 million acres of National Wildlife Refuge lands.
The proposal would open or expand 1,450+ hunting and fishing opportunities across 111 federal sites in 32 states while also reducing unnecessary regulatory barriers and better aligning federal management with state wildlife frameworks.
Hunting and fishing are more than recreation - they are foundational to conservation, rural economies, and America’s outdoor heritage.
CSF commends this action and remains committed to protecting and advancing access, science-based wildlife management, and the future of our sporting traditions.

It is with a heavy heart that we mourn the passing of NASCAR legendary driver, Kyle Busch. NASCAR and Richard Childress Racing (RCR) announced Busch’s sudden and tragic passing on May 21 after being hospitalized with a severe illness.
Busch was one of the most accomplished and recognizable drivers in NASCAR history, earning more than 60 NASCAR Cup Series victories and two Cup Series championships during his remarkable career. He also holds the distinction of being the winningest driver in the sport’s history across NASCAR’s top three series (the Cup Series, Xfinity Series, and the Craftsman Truck Series) - a testament to both his talent and lasting impact on the sport.
Beyond his accomplishments on the track, Busch was a passionate supporter of the outdoors and a valued friend within the conservation community. CSF was honored to welcome Kyle to our Wine, Wheels, and Wildlife event, where his presence reflected the strong connection between NASCAR, outdoor traditions, and conservation advocacy. His relationship with Richard Childress Racing - one of CSF’s most longstanding and dedicated supporters - made that connection even more meaningful.
“CSF mourns the loss of Kyle Busch, a force in motorsports, and even more of a force off the track. CSF expresses our condolences to the Busch Family, our friends at Richard Childress Racing, and the millions of fans who have been impacted by this loss,” said CSF President and CEO Jeff Crane. “Kyle represented what it meant to be the fiercest of competitors on the track, but most importantly, he exemplified what it meant to be a father, husband, and a role model for fans across the nation.”
Kyle’s competitive spirit, larger-than-life personality, and love for the outdoors left a lasting impression on countless fans, friends, and partners across the country. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, the entire NASCAR community, and everyone at Richard Childress Racing during this incredibly difficult time.

Last week, the Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation was turning and burning in Washington, D.C. to advance the future of hunting, angling, recreational shooting, and conservation. Not just to talk about it, but to make stuff happen.
Our week included:
🦌 Bringing conservation conversations to the forefront through a policy briefing on habitat connectivity, partner collaboration, and meaningful discussions on the issues impacting sportsmen and women across the country.
🏛️ Time on Capitol Hill meeting with Congressional offices and key decision-makers to advocate for policies that protect access, conserve wildlife habitat, and support America’s sporting traditions.
🌾 Capturing stories from inside the CSF office and behind the scenes of the work that keeps conservation priorities moving forward every day.
📍Hosting the annual Congressional Clays Competition, where Members of the Congressional Sportsmen’s Caucus and partners in the sporting-conservation community connect at the range, where relationships are built outside to strengthen the work done inside.
🦃 And, after a packed work week in D.C., unwinding the best way we know how, with some time in the turkey woods.
From meeting rooms to the clays course to mornings in the turkey woods, every part of this work is connected.
We’re proud to stand alongside the policymakers, partners, and sportsmen and women who continue putting in the work to ensure these opportunities, and the landscapes that make them possible, endure for generations to come.

Dear Algorithm: find those who believe in bugles, gobbles, and days spent in the tree stand, and in protecting what makes them possible. 🦃 🦌
May + Clays: Name a more iconic duo. 🤝
Great shots, even better company, and a shared commitment to conservation. The Congressional Clays Competition brings together policymakers, partners, and the sporting community for a day on the course, all in support of protecting our outdoor traditions and natural resources.
From the first “pull” to the final round, it’s more than hitting targets: it’s building relationships and advancing what matters most for the great outdoors. 🌲
