“I don’t want to be seen as a victim—I want to be seen as a warrior.”
The stories young people see—and the ones we choose to uplift—shape how they see themselves. This Foster Care Awareness Month, Foster America is proud to support Center for Scholars and Storytellers and YouTube Kids’ Foster Care Playlist, featuring authentic, strengths-based stories from young people and role models with connections to foster care.
We’re especially proud that Lexi Jones, a Foster America Technology Leadership Fellow whom we connected to this opportunity, is featured in the playlist. A youth advocate, lived expert, mother, and entrepreneur in Denver, Lexi shares that her goal is “to help make change” and “give a voice to youth that don’t have one.”
Lexi joins a powerful group of athletes, advocates, creators, and young leaders who are sharing their stories, giving back, and helping young people see themselves reflected with strength, possibility, and pride.
Take a moment to watch—and consider sharing it with your networks to help amplify these powerful stories.

Last week, our Board of Directors and Executive Team reunited in New York City for an engaging in-person retreat.
Over a full and meaningful few days, we held space for big questions, honest dialogue, and shared learning—while also carving out time to connect, reflect, and ground ourselves in the purpose that drives this work.
We’re deeply grateful for the partnership of this remarkable group of leaders and excited for what’s to come.
Onward—until every family thrives.

This week, the Foster America team gathered in Atlanta for our all-team retreat—and left clear, connected, and energized about what’s ahead. We spent meaningful time strengthening relationships, aligning around where we’re headed, and grounding ourselves in the impact we’re working toward for children and families.
We’re stepping into the months ahead with excitement about the role we can play in helping systems better support families. Deeply grateful for this team, the care they bring to the work, and the future we’re building together.

We are proud to welcome fourteen new changemakers to the second cohort of our Fiscal Leadership Circle (FLC)!
The FLC is a 12-month professional fellowship that supports senior fiscal and systems leaders in evolving from budget managers to system strategists—strengthening collaboration, removing barriers to upstream investment, and advancing prevention-first approaches within complex public systems.
As we celebrate 10 years of impact, the FLC reflects our commitment to equipping leaders with the tools, habits, and community needed to drive lasting systems change—so families receive the right support, at the right time, in ways that are equitable and sustainable.
