Great to be in Humboldt today meeting with farmers from eastern South Dakota to discuss the issues impacting South Dakota agriculture, including the future of the Farm Bill. I always enjoy hearing directly from the producers who keep our ag economy strong and learning more about the challenges and opportunities they’re seeing on the ground. Thank you to everyone who joined the conversation and to the SD Pork Producers for the delicious lunch.

Met with Mike Headley with the Sanford Underground Research Facility and Dr. Norbert Holtkamp who was recently appointed as the new director of the Fermi Lab based in Illinois. These two national laboratories coordinate on important work in researching dark matter. Always good to get an update on their operations.

At my request, representatives from the Office of the Inspector General of the Postal Service are on the ground in South Dakota right now collecting information on exactly what’s going on with our poor mail service.

My team and I have heard from hundreds of South Dakotans who are having persistent issues. Looking forward to receiving a full report from the OIG on the problems with our mail service, and a detailed report from USPS on their plans to fix it. In the meantime, if you’ve had an issue with the mail service, please continue to share your experiences with us.

Good to be in Walworth County near Selby today for the dedication of the WEB water treatment facility expansion. Appreciate the work these folks do to provide clean water that helps South Dakota families in this part of the state thrive. They know they’re doing this for the next generation.

Had a great conversation with the current class of South Dakota Agricultural & Rural Leadership participants. Exciting to see South Dakotans pursue leadership and professional development in the ag industry.

Brianna Mount, an Associate Professor at Black Hills State University and Dr. Jaret Heise, South Dakota Science and Technology Authority (SDSTA) Science Director stopped in to talk about the impact of particle physics and give an update on the Sanford Underground Research Facility (SURF) lab.

Sat down with Jennifer Beving, State Director at South Dakota Americans for Prosperity. It was good to catch up with her about the work her organization is doing in our state.

Great to see Lemmon High School students in DC! I had a good time talking with them and answering their thoughtful questions.

Met with members of the South Dakota Trucking Association. Good to get an update on the important work they do, as well as insight into how Congress can support the trucking industry.

Trump’s FY27 budget puts America first: strengthening our military, cutting wasteful spending and refocusing taxpayer dollars. This budget focuses on keeping America strong and secure. Looking forward to working with the Trump administration through the appropriations process for FY27.
