🚹SCAM ALERT: Please spread the word. Scammers are calling residents, falsely claiming to be captains with the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office and using the names of Captain Todd Baer and Captain Randy Foley. They may tell you that you need to appear in court or pay money. Please don’t believe them. Don’t pay and don’t provide any personal information. Just hang up.

Most importantly, share this with your loved ones, especially older adults and those who may be more vulnerable to scams. A quick warning could prevent someone from becoming a victim. If you’re ever unsure whether a communication from PBSO is legitimate, call our non-emergency number directly to verify, (561) 688-3400.

You could pay for a life insurance policy that doesn't actually exist.

It happens when scammers pose as licensed agents, sell policies that don't exist, and ask you to pay premiums directly to them instead of an insurance company.

Before you buy a policy, confirm your agent is licensed by contacting your state's Department of Insurance. Find yours through the National Association of Insurance Commissioners.

A fake policy won't protect the people you love. Learn the warning signs of life insurance fraud: https://www.nicb.org/life-insurance-fraud-scams-to-watch-for
