Last week’s vandalism at Bad Bakers was upsetting for many in our community. We are pleased to share that, with the assistance of community members, West Sacramento Police have identified, located, and arrested the suspect responsible.
Incidents like this can be jarring, especially when they impact a new local business working hard to become part of our community. What stood out most in the days that followed was the overwhelming support shown for Bad Bakers and the willingness of residents to come forward with information that helped move this investigation forward.
This case is a reminder that West Sacramento is stronger when we work together. Thank you to everyone who supported the business, shared information, and helped us bring this case to a successful resolution.

Today, we were honored to join our West Sac community in supporting another impactful event organized by Ricky Brazil to raise awareness about the dangers of fentanyl and the devastating impact it continues to have on families throughout our community.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to all families who have lost loved ones or been affected by fentanyl. Their stories serve as a powerful reminder of why education, awareness, and prevention matter.
This is an important opportunity to have conversations with your children, stay informed, and learn the warning signs of fentanyl use and exposure.

The West Sacramento Police Department mourns the passing of former Chief Barry Kalar, the first Chief of Police for our department and a respected leader whose influence helped shape the foundation of policing in our community.
Chief Kalar’s dedication to public service extended far beyond law enforcement. In addition to his distinguished career, he was an active member of the local Rotary as well as an Adjunct Professor of Administration of Justice. He remained committed to serving and strengthening the West Sacramento community and beyond throughout his life.
We are sincerely grateful for the impact Chief Kalar had on the law enforcement profession, our department, and the many people he mentored and inspired over the years.
Our thoughts and condolences are with Chief Kalar’s family, friends, former colleagues, and all who knew him. His legacy of leadership and service will not be forgotten, and he will be sorely missed.
