The Washington Post Editorial Board has endorsed AGAINST Question 3.

From newsrooms to voters across the political spectrum, opposition to Question 3 and extreme partisan gerrymandering extends far beyond one party. Marylanders deserve fair representation, not politicians rewriting the rules to benefit themselves.

ANNOUNCEMENT- Carroll County Board of Elections Appointment Information-

The Carroll County Republican Central Committee is seeking candidates to serve as members of the Carroll County Board of Elections (CCBOE). The term for the new CCBOE begins June 2027 and goes through June 2031. Candidates must be registered Republican voters with at least 5 years residency in Carroll County. Any person desiring to serve in this position should submit a letter of interest along with a list of relevant political and elections-related experience. Please submit letters of interest to [email protected]

The deadline to submit letters of interest is Monday October 12, 2026 at 11:59pm. Interviews of the interested candidates by the Carroll County Republican Central Committee will occur within the following two weeks of this deadline. The exact date/time/location will be communicated to those who submitted letters of interest.

We understand this is a major departure from the normal process of seeking and selecting CCBOE candidates. This task would normally fall under the purview of the new incoming Carroll County Republican Central Committee that seats after the gubernatorial general election and the process would also have a longer timeline. However, the process has been expedited via Maryland Senate Bill 1007 (2024).

All documents related to this process can be found on our website. It is important to note that the CCBOE is a stipend position. Individuals cannot hold more than one position of profit in government, so anyone currently serving on a county board or committee that is a stipend position, as well as anyone employed by Carroll County Government (excluding law enforcement, fire, and EMS), is ineligible per Article 35 of the MD Constitution in conjunction with Section 34 of the Carroll County Ethics Code.

Www.ccgop.net for additional information and explanation of the role.
