We look forward to growing together with our Carp Lake Township communities! Carp Lake Township, located in the scenic Upper Peninsula of Michigan, is a gateway to some of the region’s most breathtaking natural wonders. Bordered by the majestic Lake Superior, the township boasts access to spectacular waterfalls, miles of serene hiking trails, and the rugged beauty of the Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park. Within this park lies the stunning Lake of the Clouds, a panoramic gem nestled high above the forested landscape. Carp Lake Township was officially established and organized by township supervisors on January 26, 1864, laying the foundation for a community deeply rooted in Michigan’s rich natural and historical heritage.

White Pine Copper LLC has applied for mining, wetland, water discharge, dam safety and air quality permits for the White Pine North project in the western Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

The White Pine North is a brownfield project on the site of the old White Pine copper mine, about 15 miles southwest of Ontonagon.

The mine site is approximately 5 miles south, and upstream, of Lake Superior.

The new mine would create an estimated 800 jobs and would generate at least $350 million in severance tax revenue, according to White Pine Copper's corporate website.

Hazard: Dangerous wildfire conditions expected, with wind gusts over 30 mph, and relative humidity readings below 30%, coupled with ongoing drought
