Read Aloud Delaware

A volunteer, a child and a favorite book. Once a week, they sit together and read, and the child gets to set the pace, stop to ask questions or flip back to the page they love.

Read Aloud Delaware brings these moments to classrooms across the state.

The Fund for Women annual breakfast is always a time to be had! We had the privilege of meeting Retha Fisher. Retha is one of the 16 original founders of the Fund in 1993. She also started the Delaware Food Bank!! We are so grateful to Retha and the FFW for all their support and work.

“Human interaction isn’t just a nice to have. It isn’t just a luxury. It is a biological necessity.”

Very interesting conversation yesterday between Dana Suskind and Kyle Evans Gay about AI and early childhood hosted by the Delaware Literacy Alliance and Emily Hershman.

Dana spoke about how we should be using AI to create MORE room for human connection (logistics, food scheduling, etc), not to replace it, especially with children.

Great catching up with Luis of LENA the other day. We have been implementing the 10-week LENA Start program since 2020, and have served over 300 families in English and Spanish. Want to learn more about how we help parents build stronger language and literacy foundations with their children? Register for an info session, link in comments.

We were happy to provide books from our library to help St. Anthony's preschool program, after they lost 500 books due to flooding.

Shout out to Read Aloud Delaware in Wilmington for restocking our Preschool and Kindergarten libraries today! We appreciate you! 😄📚
