Whether you visit for one of our festivals, to experience the outdoors, or to step back in time, we can’t wait to welcome you. Welcome to Wilson, a place that is so much more to me than the Czech capital of Kansas. True, I am a proud descendant of the Czech settlers who brought their rich heritage here and became the face of these vast plains. But to me it also represents a slice of Americana, a snapshot of a bygone era where summer pastimes
meant searching for glass bottles to add to our childhood collections and chewing wheat kernels like it was gum. A time where a night out meant driving with my grandparents through town in their blue Plymouth A place where my great aunt Marie taught me as a young child to make a cup of “coffee,” a mixture of milk and sugar with a dab of coffee. Everything just felt right. And as a conservationist, I feel it’s critical to preserve these small, agricultural towns that are the foundation of our country. By creating Czech Out Wilson and owning Czech Apartments, I promote the history and appeal of this town. It’s a way to support a place that I love, a way to pay homage to my heritage while also giving back. So come! “Czech” out what makes Wilson so special.
