As Domestic Violence Awareness Month comes to a close, our commitment to supporting survivors and families affected by domestic violence must continue.

I encourage Prince William County residents to support ACTS Safe House and the GFWC Woodbridge Woman’s Club Community Care Drive. These efforts help provide essential resources and assistance to individuals and families in need.

Together, we can continue building a community where everyone feels safe, supported, and valued.

Strong relationships begin with a conversation and last week, PWAR members had the opportunity to start new ones and strengthen existing connections with local elected officials at At the Table: A REALTOR® Advocacy Reception.

PWAR was pleased to welcome Prince William County Board of County Supervisors Chair Jefferson and Supervisors Angry, Stewart, and Gordy; City of Manassas Vice Mayor Wolfe and Council Member Osina; Manassas Park Vice Mayor Moore; and Town of Dumfries Mayor Wood.

I’m so proud of the Honorable Michelle Parks for earning the John and Ernestine Jenkins Good Scout Award.

Michelle has been a dear friend and role model. She is the first Black person and woman to lead the City of Manassas. Watching her lead with so much grace and class has been an inspiration!

John Walvius also received an award for the amazing work he’s done with the Boys and Girls Club. His committed to youth was evident and it was beautiful to see him stand alongside his wife who I’m told was a longtime school teacher in the county.

On Monday, October 19, I’ll be joining Gainesville District Supervisor George Stewart for a community town hall to hear from residents and discuss public safety and transportation concerns along the Sudley corridor.

Community input is essential to addressing the issues that matter most to our residents.
