TODAY I MET WITH THE UN SPECIAL COMMITTEE ON DECOLONIZATION (C-24)
The primary purpose of the visiting mission is to hear firsthand the perspectives of Virgin Islanders on:
i) The state of the relationship between the Virgin Islands and the United Kingdom (UK); And
ii) The political future of the Virgin Islands with respect to decolonization.
This body got their Charter from the UN General Assembly in 1961, that’s 63 years ago. During their first 2 years Jamaica & Trinidad & Tobago became independent in 1962; and in the next 4 years Barbados & Guyana followed in 1966.
This trend continued up to 1983 when St Kitts and Nevis got their independence. In total within its first 22 years of existence, some 11 Caribbean countries got their independence from the United Kingdom.
That was 41 years ago, and sadly, not a single other country, including the British Virgin Islands has made the cut. That’s nothing in 41 years.
This is an utter disgrace…
The fact that this Committee exists means that something is wrong.
The fact that countries rushed towards independence within the first year of its existence means that something is wrong.
While these good folks are here, remind them.
THE MEMBERS OF THE COMMITTEE ARE:
(my far right)
Dr. Abbas Kadhom AlFatlawi, Charge d’affaires of the Republic of Iraq United Nations.
(my right)
HIS EXCELLENCY MR. FRED SARUFA, permanent Representative and Ambassador of Papua New Guinea to the UN
(my left)
H.E. MS. MENISSA RAMBALLY, Permanent Representative of St Lucia to the United Nations, and Chair of the Committee.
(my far left)
H. E. Dr. Walton Aubrey Webson, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Permanent Representative of Antigua & Barbuda to the United Nations

SEVENTH-DAY ADVENTIST SCHOOL PRIMARY DIVISION
Commencement Class of 2024 Congratulatory Message
On behalf of my wife & myself, and the people of the Third District, I extend a sincere and most deserving congratulations to you the exiting Class of 2024. And also wish to acknowledge the role the Board of Management, and the Principal and Staff has played in affording me the privilege to make this contribution.
Class of 2024, I am reminded that Adventist Christian Education in the Virgin Islands goes back 70 years, and that speaks volumes, because for something to survive that long, it must first be appreciated, and then also be a contributor. I think one thing we all can agree on is that it has been a huge contributor.
What is the school? If you ask people like me, we can attest to the fact that while bricks and mortar does play a role in making up the modern-day school, schools have been around long before there was bricks and mortar. One thing it must have though, is you. There is no school without you. So, whatever this school has contributed to this society, we thank you for continuing the legacy.
Your class motto: “Empowered for the journey”, should not be taken lightly. As a matter of fact, even if you take it literally, its impact is undeniably significant, considering how far you are yet to go. Despite all the turmoil the world is facing, no one is expecting you to fix anything just yet, but rest assured a lot is riding on you. You have time, reasons, and opportunities. We therefore implore you to capitalize on all three.
It is expected that when you leave here you will be going on to High School where the competition is more intense, and you will also be considering your future. I urge you to consider carefully the territory’s needs before embarking upon a career path.
As all of you in this Class take this bold step towards a Secondary Education, I just want you to remember those who sacrificed much to make this happen and show some gratitude. You can start while on your way back to your seats, by taking a good look at your parents or guardians and acknowledge that look on their faces saying it was all worth it, by just saying thank you.
Class of 2024, we are all proud of you.
Again, I say congratulations.
Sincerely,
Julian Fraser, RA
House of Assembly of the Virgin Islands

CARVIN MALONE… Always beaming with Virgin Islands Pride and wearing something green is dead….
This morning we lost a Virgin Island Patriot who risked his life to protect the lives of every Virgin Islander during the COVID-19 Pandemic.
As a Member of the 4th House of Assembly he served as Minister, Deputy Premier, Backbencher, and Opposition Member all in one term. He’s been places I’ve never been…

IT’S BEEN A 365 DAYS WAIT BUT WELL WORTH IT..
HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYBODY
To all my wonderful constituents of the 3rd District… And of course the rest of the Virgin Islands.

AS A RESULT OF HURRICANE IRMA ALL THE CHURCHES ON TORTOLA EXCEPT THE “SEA COWS BAY METHODIST” WERE DAMAGED AND OUT OF USE.
THE FOLKS AT SEA COWS BAY METHODIST OPENED THERE DOORS TO ALL DENOMINATIONS AND HOSTED FUNERALS FROM AROUND THE TERRITORY, AMONG OTHER THINGS.
“WE HOSTED 3 OFFICIAL FUNERALS”
