U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announced that Mobile Passport Control (MPC) is now live at the Henry E. Rohlsen Airport (STX) in St. Croix and the Cyril E. King Airport (STT) in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands.
MPC is designed to streamline the CBP processing of travelers heading to Puerto Rico and the United States, thereby reducing the time individuals spend undergoing passport control inspections and decreasing overall wait times. The integration of MPC in the USVI will enable eligible travelers to electronically submit their passport information and customs declarations. This initiative is specifically focused on optimizing processes and minimizing wait times, which directly contributes to an enhanced customer experience. Like Global Entry, there will be dedicated lanes at both airports.

The Virgin Islands Port Authority (VIPA) was recently notified that the vessel operated by Water Spirit Freight Services VI, Inc. has been prohibited from docking in Puerto Rico by the U.S. Coast Guard and the Puerto Rico Ports Authority due to safety regulations within the San Juan harbor.
This action is specific to the Port of San Juan and does not involve VIPA, as the V. I. Port Authority has no jurisdiction over port regulations in Puerto Rico.
VIPA recognizes that this docking restriction will significantly impact Water Spirit’s ability to continue providing cargo transportation services between Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands, which may, in turn, affect residents and local businesses that rely on these services.
Water Spirit is actively monitoring the situation and will provide updates directly to its customers as information becomes available. VIPA will also continue to share any relevant information that may assist the community regarding this matter.
