This month’s newsletter brings together stories from across Santo and the wider Pacific — connecting people, places, and moments in history.

From the Anzac Day dawn service on the Segond Channel, to the transformation of Havannah Harbour, and a powerful story of determination from a recent Santo graduate — this issue captures both past and present.

We also continue the story of USS Strong officer Keith Sherlie, with new personal items now on display, and explore Charles Lindbergh’s lesser-known wartime role in the Pacific.

These are just some of the highlights — there’s plenty more inside.

It's wonderful for the Reef Smart, Pacific Dive & Aore Adventures Sports & Lodge to creating the map, and Thank you so much for Pacific Dive to donated the map.

Dave Tony on the right is the longest dive guide on the Coolidge, he had been guiding the wreck for over 25 years, and Moli would be the second longest. There must be many divers remember them.

In October of 2025 Santo’s two longest established dive centres Pacific Dive and Aore Adventures Sports & Lodge worked with Reef Smart to complete a photogrammetry mapping project of the WWII wrecks of Espiritu Santo, with a big emphasis on mapping the world famous SS President Coolidge 🚢

As part of our commitment to preserving history, Pacific Dive have donated maps of these wrecks to the South Pacific WWII Museum 🏛️

Pictured here is Pacific Dive general manager Joel Watson and dive staff Rex Moli, Ruben Bethel and David Tonny presenting a map of the SS President Coolidge to museum director Bradley Wood 😎
