📣 Government Approves Electricity Subsidy to Help Reduce the Impact of Rising Fuel Prices on Electricity Customers.

The Utilities Regulatory Authority - URA of Vanuatu wishes to inform the public that the Government of Vanuatu has approved a VUV 192 million subsidy for the electricity sector under Council of Ministers (CoM) Decision No. 18 of 2026.

The subsidy has been introduced in response to recent increases in global fuel prices, which have significantly increased the cost of fuel used for electricity generation.

This Notice serves to inform UNELCO ENGIE Water customers in Port Vila (Efate) that the Port Vila’s water tariff is adjusted quarterly (referred to as the Reference Price) via a Tariff Adjustment Formula as embedded in the Port Vila Water Concession Contract.

UNELCO’s applicable Water Reference Rate (adjusted tariff) for Quarter 2 of 2026 of 94.64 Vatu.m3 is exclusive of:

• The Water Development Fund Contributions (compulsory to all Customers) of 5 Vatu/m3, as provided for in Article 8 of Addendum 6 to the Concession Contract.
• The Value Added Tax (VAT), in accordance with VAT Act No. 12 of 1998, at an applicable rate of 15% as of the signature of this amendment but automatically updated to reflect any future evolutions of this rate as mandated by Customs and Inland Revenue.
• URA’s assessment fee of 1.5 %.
