Today, I met with LDK leader Lumir Abdixhiku. We discussed the importance of a respectful and constructive election campaign allowing for rapid formation of institutions after the election. Kosovo’s partners look forward to a new political phase focused on delivering on Kosovo’s opportunities and the interests of its citizens.

I met Acting President and Acting Speaker Albulena Haxhiu this morning. We discussed the importance of a new Assembly being able to elect a president following the elections, to avoid further elections and missed opportunities for Kosovo. I emphasised the need for political parties to compromise to avoid such a scenario. We also discussed the appalling abuse targeted at female politicians on social media and hoped that all party leaders would make clear that this is unacceptable.

A pleasure to participate in yesterday’s “Creators Connect” event with NDI. It was fascinating to hear from former President Jahjaga as well as Kosovan influencers, podcasters and content creators about their experiences and their roles around public narratives and women’s leadership.

Good discussion with AAK leader Ramush Haradinaj yesterday ahead of the 7 June elections.

Ramush Haradinaj has played a significant role in Kosovo’s political life over many years, contributing to the country’s democratic development and institutions.

As Kosovo moves towards the elections, it will be important for political parties to engage constructively and work together afterwards to form a stable government and ensure the timely election of a President. Kosovo’s democratic progress depends on cooperation, dialogue and a shared commitment to the country’s future.

The 🇬🇧 and the 🇽🇰 Central Election Commission have developed a close relationship in our successful cyber cooperation to ensure the effective running of the vote tabulation and publishing software in the last municipal and national elections. I am pleased to be continuing our support for the upcoming national elections on 7 June.

The CEC plays an essential role in ensuring the integrity and transparency of Kosovo’s electoral processes. While meeting CEC Chair Kreshnik Radoniqi today, it was positive to hear about how the CEC is improving and tightening its procedures even further.

Today I met with PDK leader Bedri Hamza ahead of the 7 June elections. We discussed the importance of a constructive and respectful election campaign that strengthens democratic debate and leaves room for cooperation after the elections, in the best interest of Kosovo and its citizens.

It was a pleasure to return to the Municipality of Ferizaj, Kosovo’s third-largest municipality and one of its most economically dynamic. I congratulated Mayor Agim Aliu on his third mandate and welcomed his perspective on the municipality’s continued development and priorities for the future.

Our discussion extended beyond local priorities in Ferizaj to Mayor Aliu’s wider role as Chairman of the Association of Kosovo Municipalities, through which he works to strengthen cooperation between municipalities across Kosovo on issues that matter most to citizens. We reflected on both the challenges and opportunities of fostering greater inter-municipal collaboration, strengthening local governance, and ensuring municipalities can work collectively to address shared priorities.

Fascinating to visit the municipality of Klokot, with its mixed-community population. Deputy Mayor Refik Halili gave us a comprehensive overview of the work of the local administration and the priorities of the municipality, whilst entrepreneur Milos Peric shared valuable reflections on local realities from the perspective of the community itself.
Klokot, whilst facing challenges, is an instructive example of productive coexistence and cooperation between different communities in a small municipality.
