Groundwork: A Social Innovation Agency We're your capacity builders providing operational support, grantwriting, & accessibility expertise. Let's work together to reach your goals!

As an agency that operates with an equity for all lens we are proud to work with a diverse team of specialists with decades of combined professional expertise and lived-experience. In an effort to meet the ever evolving needs of our clients and our partners our roster includes experts in community engagement, facilitation, education, research, data analysis, communications, marketing, film, project management, social media, and film. We are teachers and students; artists and curators; dreamers and doers - true philanthropists with the mission of laying the groundwork, helping to create positive change for an equitable future. Organizational - Plan creation and implementation is time consuming and operationally exhausting, no matter the good intentions. We have experience in creating and implementing various types of plans and projects and can do so through an inclusive lens. Community - Just like every room has a ceiling, everyone has a capacity at which they can no longer function or grow without external support. Through partnership, collaboration and sharing of resources we can support your goals. Business - To remain competitive in todays marketplace businesses have to be creative, inclusive and consistent. Managing these pieces, operating your business, and trying to grow can often be too much. We can help you prioritize, decolonize and delegate so you can grow with integrity. Other Services - There are always things we wish we could do if only we had enough time, or help. Maybe your goal seemed like a dream instead of a possibility. What is on your “it would be nice list”? Many hands make light work and through resource sharing community impact is within reach.

"For some, a bed is not the best choice for them"

Thank you United Way Halifax for amplifying the voices of lived experience and providing an honest offering of a maybe, less than common, perspective.

friends!

Some people experiencing homelessness in Halifax may opt out of a shelter bed. Here’s why we should respect that choice and keep working on other solutions.

We took a trip to Prince Edward Island with the Atlantic Home Building & Renovation Sector Council and United Way Halifax to check out the Tiny Homes that the Construction Association of Prince Edward Island is building with their Skilled NewComer and Youth in Trades programs!

In order to increase the number of homes to alleviate the housing crisis, we need more builders. Everyone needs a home, and anyone can build one - with the right support and training! We've got a long way to go to fix the problem, but we can all be a part of the solution!

We love this videos perspective of how being culturally "competent" is a lofty goal, but that we can create safe spaces to learn and hold one another accountable when we shift our mindsets to cultural "humility" ❤️

It's a quick video 🎥 well worth the 2.5 minutes!

We're stocking up to make our first donation of the year to the Mittens for Kids Program.

Paula Huntley has made it one of her many missions over the years to make sure that children in schools throughout the Annapolis Valley have warm hands and she single-handedly (see what wendid there?🤣), has facilitated the donation of THOUSANDS of pairs of mittens.

Want to join us in donating? Contact Paula directly or dm our page and we can help you connect.

Do you like to knit or crochet? Mittens for Kids welcomes donations of any kind, and sometimes that means they get lots of yarn that needs to be made into mittens.

Would you rather make a cash donation to the cause? Email Paula at [email protected] and be sure to put "Mittens for Kids" in the message.
