[KOICA Delivers Emergency Supplies and Safety Posters to Yaoundé Nsimalen International Airport]
On March 19th, 2026, the KOICA Cameroon Office provided emergency and medical supplies (44 items) to Yaoundé Nsimalen International Airport and delivered safety posters to enhance airport safety. The posters were installed at the airport to raise awareness among travelers and emphasize the airport’s commitment to passenger safety.
Therefore, the emergency medical supplies will help enable a rapid and effective response in case of emergencies at the airport, supporting frontline responders in providing timely care and stabilizing patients before further treatment.
This initiative was carried out as part of Cameroon’s Emergency Medical Services (EMS) system, particularly in preparation for MC14, to support the safety of incoming and outgoing passengers.
KOICA hopes that all travelers passing through the airport remain safe and that Cameroon continues to move toward becoming a safer country.

[Strengthening Emergency Response Capacity at Yaoundé Nsimalen International Airport]
KOICA Cameroon successfully conducted an Airport Emergency Care Training on 26th, Febraury for airport officials as part of the Project for Building of Emergency Medical Services System in Cameroon (2023–2028).
The training was organized in collaboration with Yaoundé Nsimalen International Airport and the Ministry of Public Health, bringing together approximately 45 airport officials to strengthen their capacity to respond effectively to medical emergencies.
This initiative was carried out in preparation for the 14th WTO Ministerial Conference (MC14), scheduled from 26th, March to 29th, March, which is expected to bring around 3,000 international visitors to Cameroon. Strengthening emergency response capacity at the airport is a crucial step in ensuring the safety of travelers and participants during the event.
During the training, participants learned the importance of rapid emergency response, including CPR techniques and the proper use of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs). Through hands-on sessions and practical demonstrations, officials enhanced their ability to provide immediate care in emergency situations.
KOICA Cameroon remains committed to working with national partners to strengthen emergency medical services and contribute to a safer and more resilient Cameroon.

[Welcoming Our New Country Director, Mr. Kim Yukyum]
KOICA Cameroon Office is delighted to welcome our new Country Director, Mr. Kim Yukyum.
On his first Monday at the office, a welcoming ceremony was held with the participation of all staff members. The occasion provided an opportunity for introductions and meaningful discussions on ongoing priorities and the future direction of our cooperation in Cameroon.

[Field Visit Update: Drinking Water Supply Project in Rural Areas of Cameroon (2019–2025)]
From 4th to 6th, February, the KOICA Cameroon Office conducted field visits to seven project sites in Koutaba, followed by additional visits to three sites in Matomb on 9th, February, as part of the Drinking Water Supply Project in Rural Areas of Cameroon (2019–2025).
This project aims to address water scarcity and improve public health and sanitation by establishing sustainable drinking water supply systems in rural communities across the Centre, Littoral, and West Regions, specifically in Matomb, Ebebda, Massok, and Koutaba.
During the mission, the team:
· Conducted on-site interview of 10 representative locations among the 99 completed project sites, to understand impact of the project,
· Engaged directly with beneficiaries to assess ongoing needs and identify follow-up support requirements.
Through continuous field engagement, KOICA remains committed to ensuring the sustainability of water infrastructure and improving the quality of life for rural communities in Cameroon.

[A Farewell to Director Kim Sang-cheol]
After two and a half years of dedicated service (July 2023 – January 2026), Director Kim Sang-cheol has concluded his term at the KOICA Cameroon Office and returned to Korea.
During his tenure, Director Kim devoted tremendous effort to strengthening the office and advancing KOICA’s partnership with Cameroon. His leadership has contributed meaningfully to the growth of the KOICA Cameroon Office and to the continued development cooperation between our two countries.
We are especially grateful for his calm leadership, gentle charisma, and thoughtful guidance, which have inspired and supported all of us. His commitment and dedication will not be forgotten.
We sincerely wish him good health and continued success in all that lies ahead.

[Cooperation of Cameroon–Korea - Joint Ceremony of WASH & E-Government Projects]
On 16 December 2025, the KOICA Cameroon Office successfully held the Joint Ceremony of the Drinking Water Supply Project and the E-Government Project at Hilton Bouma Hall, welcoming over 350 participants from Cameroon and the Republic of Korea.
The ceremony served as a platform to share achievements and future visions of two major KOICA-supported initiatives:
• Drinking Water Supply Project in Rural Areas of Cameroon (2019–2025)
• Project for Enhancing Awareness and Capacity Building for Public Service Transformation in Cameroon
During the event, the KOICA Country Director presented KOICA’s development cooperation journey in Cameroon over the past 15 years, highlighting key project achievements across sectors and reaffirming KOICA’s strong commitment to continued partnership and future cooperation with the Government of Cameroon.
The WASH project has contributed to improving access to safe drinking water in rural communities through the construction and rehabilitation of water supply facilities, capacity building for local stakeholders, and the promotion of sustainable water management practices. The ceremony officially marked the handover of the project to MINEPAT, symbolizing national ownership and sustainability.
Meanwhile, the E-Government project focuses on strengthening public service transformation by enhancing digital awareness, institutional capacity, and human resources. The unveiling of the future e-Government training centers and exhibition hall demonstrated a shared vision toward digital governance and improved public service delivery.
High-level representatives including the Minister of MINEPAT, Secretary Generals of MINPOSTEL and MINFOPRA, UNOPS, KOICA partners, medical professionals from CURY, and other stakeholders gathered to reaffirm their commitment to sustainable development.
Through this joint ceremony, KOICA once again showcased the strong partnership between Cameroon and the Republic of Korea, working together toward inclusive development, improved quality of life, and a digitally empowered future.

[KOICA Cameroon Celebrates the 40th International Volunteer Day]
To commemorate the 40th International Volunteer Day (IVD), the KOICA Cameroon Office carried out a series of meaningful activities together with MINJEC and volunteers highlighting this year’s theme: Every Contribution Matters.
As part of the 10-day event week, a medical consultation booth was organized from November 26 to 27, offering free health checkups and basic treatment to local residents. KOICA volunteer Su Hwan Lee participated in the event as a nursing professional, contributing to the delivery of essential healthcare services in Cameroon.
A few days later, on November 29, volunteers took to the streets for a Volunteer March for Solidarity, walking side by side under bright banners and cheerful music. Our KOICA staff and three KOICA volunteers also joined the march, showing their support for the spirit of the event. The event was filled with energy and smiles as participants joined a plogging activity, picking up litter along the route and promoting environmental awareness through action.
The celebration concluded with the official ceremony of the International Volunteer Day on December 5, hosted by MINJEC at Amphi Theater, MINEPAT. The event featured an exhibition and award ceremony honoring outstanding volunteer efforts.
On this special occasion, KOICA Cameroon extends heartfelt gratitude to all volunteers for their dedication, compassion, and unwavering commitment to making a positive difference in Cameroon.

[Farewell of our Project Senior Manager : Honoring One Year of Dedicated Service at KOICA Cameroon Office]
On November 24, Ms. Choi Yoona, our Project Senior Manager, successfully completed her one-year assignment at the KOICA Cameroon Office and returned to Korea. Over the past year, she demonstrated outstanding professionalism, strong communication skills, and exceptional dedication to her work. Her ability to engage effortlessly and her role as an energizer within the office brought positivity, motivation, and cohesion to the entire team.
To express our appreciation, the office held a small farewell gathering. It was a warm and memorable occasion to reflect on the many achievements we shared and to celebrate the meaningful impact she has made on both our projects and our workplace culture.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Ms. Choi for her passion, commitment, and vibrant presence throughout the year. We wish her every success in her future endeavors and look forward to seeing all the remarkable contributions she will continue to make wherever she goes.
