Check out some footage from the 1939 New York World Fair, restored to 4K and full color with the help of artificial intelligence!
The video showcases what casual social dancing was like around the peak of the Lindy Hop era. Particularly notable is the mixed-race crowd. Many dance halls were integrated at a time when much of society remained segregated, reflecting the cultural melting pot jazz and swing dancing grew out of.
The music is not original audio, but is a modern electro-swing composition that was added over the original footage.
