🌞✨ Guess who’s waking up from his cozy winter slumber? It’s Elliott the Groundhog! 🐾💤 While he doesn’t hibernate, he definitely enjoys those long winter naps a bit more! It’s important for Elliott to get plenty of exercise as he wakes up, helping him build strength, maintain a healthy weight, and prepare for the busy spring ahead! Time to stretch those legs and enjoy the sunshine! 🌷☀️

Due to the incoming weather, we're reposting our critical hypothermic animal infographic! 🐾❤️ Please help us spread the word and share this far and wide. Let's keep our furry friends safe during this chilly weather.

THIS DOES NOT APPLY TO OUR AVAIN FRIENDS. DUE TO AVAIN INFLUENZA THERE ARE DIFFERENT PROTOCOLS, AT THIS TIME.

If you discover a wild animal in distress due to hypothermia, please remember to:

1. **Be Cautious**: Wild animals can be unpredictable, especially if threatened.

2. **Call a Professional**: Immediately contact a permitted wildlife rehabilitator. In PA, visit PAWR.com or use the Animal Help Now app for help. Outside of PA, use the Animal Help Now app.

3. **Prepare to Contain**: If possible, gently contain the animal and dry it off as it warms up, but do NOT give food or water!

4. **Warming Protocol**: Warm the animal VERY SLOWLY. Avoid warm water or heating pads, as this can be harmful.

Let’s protect our wildlife and ensure they get the care they need! 🦉💙

Also, we urge you to check on your neighbors, friends, and the elderly. A little kindness goes a long way! 💞 Don't forget to take precautions to prevent frozen pipes in your home.

🌱🐾 In the midst of munching on his Brussel sprout, our chief woodchuck ambassador Elliott suddenly realized: February 2 is just around the corner! 🎉✨ It’s almost time for his annual prognostication! 🐹🔮

Did you know that groundhogs can hibernate for up to 6 months? 🦔❄️ During this time, their body temperature drops from 99°F to just 37°F, their heart slows to only 5 beats per minute, and they breathe just 2 times per minute. 🫣 Before going into deep sleep, they pack on a little extra fat to get through the winter months. When they finally wake up, their heart races, and they search for food to make up for lost time. Talk about a cozy, slow-motion winter! 💤

I got my pink bed a few days ago. My brother Elliott decided he wanted to take a nap in my bed, so I gave him a taste of his own medicine and took his. 💊💊

I needed some more personal space, so my mom got me a new bed. I still love to cuddle with my brother, but we all need our own space to rest and recharge. 🔋⚡

Hey there, Frenz! It’s your favorite groundhog, Elliott! 🦫🌳

I’m checking in with some interesting news: my Sissy, Lilly, is officially a hide-and-go-seek champion!

Now, I’ve been perfecting the art of hiding for years. I mean, I am a groundhog, after all, but lately, Lilly has been learning my favorite spots. Look at this picture of her squeezing in between a bag of food and the cabinet. Isn’t she just the cutest little thing? 🥰💖

I’ve got to admit, she’s getting pretty good at this, and I’m so proud! But don’t worry, I’ve still got a few secret spots up my sleeve. I can’t let her win every time, right? 😉🥇

It's time to have a little rest. This past Friday was Extra Give, our biggest fundraising event of the year. We love our ambassador work, but like anyone, we get tired after a while.
