HANDWASHING DAY 2026

Global Handwashing Day is a way to support a global and local culture of handwashing with soap, shine a spotlight on the state of handwashing in each country and raise awareness about the benefits of handwashing with soap. Since 2008, Global Handwashing Day has been celebrated annually on October 15 worldwide. Global Public- Private Partnership for Handwashing with Soap founded Global Handwashing Day encourages schoolchildren, teachers and families to get involved.

To promote handwashing with soap, the Department OF Education implemented the 2026 Global Handwashing Day Celebration with the theme: "Be a Handwashing Hero"", which is dedicated to increase awareness and understanding on the importance of handwashing with soap as an effective and affordable way to prevent diseases and save lives.

One of the activity conducted was the watching of Grade 7 and 8 students in a Virtual program that was broadcasted in Deped Official page in support of the 2026 Global Handwashing Day.

As one of the public secondary school, Payas National High School supported and conducted this activity. At 7:30 a.m. we began our handwashing activity. Each student observed and followed the proper steps of handwashing.

This was led by our principal Dr. Ma. Theresa S. Aquino and Dr. Jose Jr. C. Aliniado for washing of the hands of non-teaching and teaching personnel and to our learners.

The celebration was successfully implemented.
