Brewcycle had their first outing at the Green Roots, Global Voices event in Manchester!

On Sunday 26th July, Brewcycle packed up our (admittedly slightly wonky) pull-up banner, a table dressed in coffee bean sacks, and a full bucket of worm tea, and headed to Alexandra Park for the Green Roots, Global Voices Showcase. It was our very first time out as a stand-alone stand, and — rain,...

Another excellent Muck and Brass lunch at St Margaret's Forever Fields.

If you'd walked into St Margaret's Forever Fields on Thursday afternoon, you'd have found a slightly dusty, slightly tired, but very cheerful crowd tucking into lunch around the trestle tables. It had been a full day. The Community Payback team had spent the day out and about doing what they do: this...

Are there any Manchester community gardens interested in some freshly brewed worm tea?

If you’ve spent any time in the gardening world lately, you’ve likely heard whispers about Worm Tea. No, it’s not something you’d serve with a biscuit at 4:00 PM, but for your vegetables, it is the ultimate garden superfood. While many UK gardeners are familiar with traditional compost or sto...

The BrewCycle Team are being weird again.

We've got a new partner on board, and our worms are currently living their best lives. The Hilary Step pub – that proper locals' spot in Whalley Range – has started donating all their cardboard to our wormeries, and honestly, we've never seen our composting crew so enthusiastic. Now, I'll be stra...

Mercado Cafe Bar are donating their excellent coffee grounds to help those in need in Manchester. Check out how the coffee you order contributes to the circular economy:

We've got a new supplier on board, and frankly, our worms have never looked so perky. Mercado Cafe - the lovely lot with the spot on Burton Road in Chorlton - have joined our growing network of caffeine philanthropists, and their coffee grounds are already causing quite the stir in our worm bins.Pic...

Community Payback is about learning new ways to get involved in the community.

If you wandered by the Brewcycle team at the Forever Fields community garden a while back, you might have heard a voice coming from beside our big yellow continuous-flow worm farm. That was Jay, our resident worm wrangler, giving the Community Payback team a tour of the weird and wonderful world of....

We've been name-checked by our friends at Brewcycle!

Let’s be honest – keeping a houseplant alive in Manchester is already a small miracle. Between the lack of natural light in our lovely Victorian terraces, the radiators that seem to have two settings (‘off’ and ‘surface of the sun’), and our famously, erm, moist climate, it’s a wonder ...
