When we aren't training or diving for work, we are diving for fun to keep our skills sharp. This past week, several of our team members went out off-duty and conducted dives under some of the oil rigs off the California coast.

Earlier this month, the Dive Team was called to assist with recovering a male victim who tragically drowned in a canal in Mecca.

Canal and swift water recovery operations are just a few of the uniquely challenging dive operations the team trains and qualifies divers to perform. While the water doesn't seem to move very swiftly, even a mild current is all it takes to get swept away in rivers and canals. Always remember to use caution when around these bodies of water.

Message from Sheriff Chad Bianco

With immense sadness and a heavy heart, I must report that the Riverside County Sheriff's Office has lost another deputy in a line of duty death.

Deputy Timothy Corlew, assigned to the Jurupa Valley Sheriff’s Station, was involved in an on-duty traffic accident on January 8, 2025.

This past week, we took advantage of the early nights and got a little "black water" diving in!
