Last week, the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office hosted a training class focused on ATV operations for search and rescue efforts.
The class covered safe handling, terrain navigation, and coordinated movement in challenging environments, strengthening readiness and field efficiency across operations.
Deputies also reviewed procedures for improving communication and maintaining control in low-access areas.
The training reinforced teamwork, safety, and the role of ATVs in expanding access during search and rescue efforts. It supported ongoing efforts to improve response capability across difficult and remote terrain.

This weekend, the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office S.C.O.R.E. Unit partnered with the Bexar Gives Back program to clean up an abandoned camp. Together, they worked to improve safety, cleanliness, and the overall quality of life in our community.
Sheriff Javier Salazar, the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office, and several local courts participate in the Bexar Gives Back jail diversion program. The program helps reduce taxpayer expenses, lower jail overtime costs, and ease jail overcrowding by allowing eligible defendants to give back to the community instead of serving jail time. To date, the program has saved taxpayers millions of dollars.
