There are speeches you hear and there are speeches that stay with you forever.

Two weeks ago, we celebrated the Desert View High School Class of 2026.

What does it mean to be a Jaguar?

At Desert View, it means resilience. Early mornings, late nights, family sacrifices, overcoming obstacles, and refusing to let others define your future.

During our 40th graduation ceremony, Class of 2026 graduate, Anysa Medrano delivered a powerful message, challenging stereotypes, honoring her family, celebrating the South Side, and reminding us that our students are far more than statistics.

β€œWe aren’t exceptions to the rule. We are proof that the rule is broken.”

This fall, Anysa will attend Princeton University on a full scholarship. Her story reflects the determination and success of so many Jaguars.

Take a few minutes to watch her remarkable message. Anysa, we are so proud of you! ❀️

πŸŒ΅πŸŽ“ Big congratulations to Desert View senior Bernadette Pinedo!

Bernadette has been awarded the prestigious President’s Saguaro Scholarship from the University of Arizona...an incredible honor recognizing her outstanding academic achievements and bright future.

Named after the iconic Saguaro cactus, highlighted by President Suresh Garimella as a symbol of strength and community impact, this award celebrates students who embody excellence and the potential to make a difference. Each year, only about 100 Arizona first-year students are selected through a highly competitive process.

Bernadette, your hard work and dedication continue to make Desert View proud. We can’t wait to see all you accomplish next! πŸ’™πŸ’›
