The Department of Communications and Technology (DICT), in partnership with the Provincial Government of Aklan through the Aklan ICT Council, conducted a 3-day Digital Literacy Training under Project CLICK. This initiative by DICT aims to provide courses focused on enhancing literacy in internet and computer knowledge, empowering participants with essential digital skills for personal and professional growth. This was held at the lobby of Aklan Tourism and Trade Investments Promotion Center (ATTIPC) building from December 10 to 12, 2024.
Before the training officially commenced, a turnover ceremony for desktop computers was held, marking another milestone in the collaboration between the Department of Communications and Technology (DICT) and the Aklan ICT Council. DICT Region 6 Director Ralph Joseph Moncatar and DICT Aklan Provincial Officer Mr. Marvin Manuel formally handed over 25 desktop computer sets to the Aklan ICT Council.

In addition to providing hands-on sessions on essential tools like Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, the Department of Communications and Technology (DICT) also gave participants a brief overview of its various programs. Moreover, the training emphasized the importance of online safety, equipping participants with foundational knowledge in cybersecurity to help them navigate the digital space securely and responsibly.

It’s inspiring to see Gabrielle V. Calizo-Quimpo, Executive Director of the Aklan ICT Council, share reflections on the recent Foreign Study Mission on Smart and Sustainable Cities and Communities under the AGILE Program, held at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, National University of Singapore.
Her acknowledgment of Senator Loren B. Legarda underscores the significance of leadership in enabling initiatives like this that empower local executives to learn from global best practices. Programs like the AGILE Study Mission provide valuable insights into governance, technology, and sustainability, fostering innovation and adaptive strategies for developing smart and sustainable communities.
The collaboration between public officials and programs like this exemplifies how shared learning can translate into actionable reforms, directly benefiting local governments and the communities they serve.
