Congratulations to Heather Howdyshell who just graduated from the Athens Veterans Treatment Court!
Heather has been with us since May of 2021! She’s had a few ups and downs but she has successfully made it to the sobriety side! She’s done a complete 180 turn around starting from despair coupled to drug use and making it to the other side and now is sober and experiencing better days! Shes even completed some college classes!
Heather has completed her main component of counseling, maintained sobrietyfor more that six months, completed her community give back project, has remained law abiding, and even found a job!!!
Congratulations Heather! The Treatment Team is proud of you! Good Luck and don’t be a stranger!
The goal of the Athens VTC is to help participants to be proactive in their recovery by connecting them to health and counselling services to help address mental health issues coupled with substance use.
Sobriety is a lifelong journey for our participants and a fight of one day at a time. We help provide them the tools so if they stumble in the future they can better pick themselves up and get back on track without court intervention. Many continue to give back by being supportive to those similarly situated veterans in the program.
