The Jewish Healthcare Foundation was proud to convene partners from across the Commonwealth for the inaugural PA Maternal Health Symposium on May 19–20 in Altoona. Together with the Pennsylvania Perinatal Quality Collaborative (PA PQC), the Pennsylvania Perinatal Action Collaborative (PAC), healthcare providers, community organizations, policymakers, and families with lived experience, we explored innovative solutions to improve maternal and infant health outcomes across Pennsylvania.

Thank you to our partners, speakers, and state leaders for helping make this first-of-its-kind event possible — and for your ongoing commitment to advancing safer, more equitable care for mothers and babies. Special thanks to the Pennsylvania Department of Health, the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services, the Pennsylvania Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs, our regional maternal health coalitions, our sponsors UPMC Health Plan and the Hospital and Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania, and all participating hospitals and organizations for their collaboration and leadership. Congratulations to all of this year's 55 designated hospitals!

🏆We’re so proud that the BH Fellows program was recognized with the Education Award by Mental Health America of Southwestern PA at last week's 2026 Innovation Awards celebrating the program's impact on strengthening Allegheny County’s behavioral health workforce. 🎉

The BH Fellows program — a partnership among Allegheny County Department of Human Services, Community Care Behavioral Health Organization, and Jewish Healthcare Foundation — supports new and existing behavioral health professionals through student loan repayment, professional development, cohort-based learning, and career growth opportunities.

Since launching in 2023, BH Fellows has helped recruit and retain over 180 professionals serving some of our region’s most vulnerable community members while building a stronger, more sustainable behavioral health system.

We’re grateful to our many partners, participating providers, and especially the Fellows themselves for their dedication, compassion, and commitment to this work.
