May Day Planned Gathering & March

May 1st, 2026

A gathering to recognize May Day will take place on Friday, May 1st.

A group will gather at Union Park, located at 1501 W. Randolph, from approximately 12pm-2pm. At 2pm, the group will travel eastbound on Washington to Racine, south on Racine to Jackson, east on Jackson to Halsted, north on Halsted to Washington, and east on Washington to Daley Plaza.

No parking signs are posted along the impacted routes and parking restrictions will be in place from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. on May 1st. Please review posted signage and move your vehicles to avoid being ticketed or towed.

The first time house music was ever covered on TV news Esposito opens it with a now legendary line explaining this new sound: “So called ‘house music’ was first made in the creator’s houses…” 😂 Right there you’ve got mainstream media trying to define something that was still raw, local, and barely understood. The segment featured early pioneers like: Farley “Jackmaster” Funk and Steve “Silk” Hurley They literally demonstrate how house music is made: Drum machines, Synths, That signature “heavy beat”  At the time, this was cutting edge. Most viewers had never seen music created like that. #ChicagoHistory 🏠 🎵

Meet this week’s featured adoptable pup from Chicago Animal Care and Control! Bluebeard is a distinguished, 7 year old gentleman with a mysteriously youthful glow and outlook. Arriving as an owner surrender, Bluebeard is easy to please and is past the age of needing tons of exercise. He’d be happy with someone to love him and be his company. Bluebeard is known for his very sweet nature and being an all-around good boy.... some say exceptionally good.

Abandoned by his owner, this grown boy is estimated to be about 10 years old with great manners and a moderate energy level. Patient and affectionate, Stan is ready to find his forever home again.
