🌈 The real baby and toddler portion size manual is inside your child's body! So when you're thinking about how big a portion size should be, think small.
They will be able to show you if they want more. They will also be able to show you if they don't want more (and you might need to duck for cover!)
When you start with a small amount of food, you:
- waste less
- don't overwhelm them
- give them an opportunity to consider whether they are hungry or full
You might find that your child always eats more than this, which is fine. You might also find that sometimes your child eats less. That's pretty typical too, although if you have concerns, it's smart to bring them up with your child's healthcare provider.
If you have a picky toddler, I highly recommend our free 11-page picky eater guide. It's really helpful and I hope it will lower some of your stress!
