Today was an exciting day of learning and connection at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center in Americus!

I had the opportunity to join Ms. Council, CEO Mr. Walton, and a cohort of community members for a behind-the-scenes look at the hospital’s operations. From oncology to the operating room and other vital departments, we gained a deeper appreciation for the teamwork, expertise, and dedication that support patient care each day.

Meeting staff and learning about their work was a highlight. We concluded with an insightful discussion with CEO Walton about how the many parts of the medical center come together to serve our community.

Thank you to the Phoebe Sumter team for welcoming us, sharing your knowledge, and providing this meaningful opportunity. Strong communities grow through relationships, collaboration, and a better understanding of the people who serve them!

We’re celebrating National School Lunch Week October 19–23 with a Cafeteria Circus full of delicious meals, colorful outfits, and big smiles! 🍎🎉

From loaded street fries to fruit-topped waffles and Friday’s grand finale, our School Nutrition teams are serving up fun while fueling students for learning! 🍔

Sumter County Schools (SCS) kicked off its State of Education Tour on the first Monday in October with stops in Leslie and DeSoto, Georgia! We are excited to continue connecting with our communities, sharing the great things happening across SCS, and keeping our families informed and engaged.

Panther Nation, exciting things are happening at Sumter County Accelerated Achievers Academy!

Our advanced and gifted students are growing through agriculture, STEM, and rigorous coursework that challenges their thinking, sparks curiosity, and expands their opportunities.

Kudos to the academy team and Sumter County Elementary School for building a positive culture and climate where our scholars can thrive. Thank you for creating meaningful experiences that help our students reach their fullest potential!

In other news, today we celebrated our custodial staff across Sumter County Schools with lunch to show how much we appreciate their hard work and dedication.

Appreciation is more than words—it deserves action. Today was an opportunity to show our custodians that we see their efforts, value their contributions, and recognize the difference they make every day.

Thank you for your support and for keeping our schools clean, safe, and welcoming. You help make Panther Nation a place where our students and staff can thrive.
