On Wednesday, City Council will consider the Mayor’s proposed FY 27 budget. This budget is about protecting the services Houstonians rely on, supporting the workers who keep our city running, and ensuring a strong financial future for Houston. As summer temperatures rise, we’re opening Beat the Heat centers across Houston to help residents stay safe and manage rising electricity costs. For 21 years, this program has been a lifeline for seniors and vulnerable Houstonians. We’re proud to partner with Reliant on an $80,000 investment delivering more than 300 air conditioning units, cooling devices, and bill assistance to those who need it most. This is about keeping Houstonians safe, supported, and prepared during the hottest months of the year.

Houston’s leading real estate and development organizations including Houston Contractors Association, West Houston Association, Houston Building Owners and Managers Association, Houston Apartment Association, Houston Association of Realtors, and Houston Real Estate Council support the City of Houston’s Fiscal Year 2027 Proposed Budget. Their backing reflects confidence in a plan that strengthens public safety, infrastructure, and Houston’s future.

Today we broke ground on Freedmen’s Town’s Rebirth in Action project, an important step in preserving history while investing in the future. This project will protect and restore three historic row houses while creating new community spaces that bring people together. We’re honoring the legacy of Freedmen’s Town and delivering improvements that will serve residents for generations to come.
