To demonstrate and popularise the project's results and impact, the Project organised a student writing contest for students in the primary and secondary schools supported by DRDIP, which kicked off in December 2023.

The contests involved students in DRDIP-supported primary and secondary schools entering a competition to write stories and poems about how DRDIP has supported their schools. The winners received cash awards, certificates of appreciation, and T-shirts/caps.

This was also a way of encouraging the students to learn writing skills and to increase their appreciation of government programs as related to education and development.

Ninety seven entries were received from five districts of DRDIP (Lamwo, Yumbe, Obongi, Moyo and Kamwenge); forty-three of the one hundred were selected as winners, thirteen won first place, and thirty were second-place winners. 7,500,000/= was distributed to the winners along with certificates of recognition.

The Government of Uganda and World Bank Joint Implementation Support Mission (ISM) for the DRDIP, is underway at the Imperial Royal Hotel, Kampala.
The one-week Mission, which started on May 20, and will run until May 24, 2024, is deliberating on key objectives covering closure of DRDIP, closure in relation to the Implementation Completion Report (ICR)
